This is the off-topic corner. Pull up a chair. That could look like: - What you're reading, watching or listening to. - Your desk setup…

One thing I love about this community is that there's so many different creative pursuits outside of UX that we take on. Content designers are interesting people.

Me: I have a podcast, have made several zines, try my hand at film photography, and just designed and built a mechanical wristwatch lately.

I don't care if you share links to show off your stuff. But I wanna know — what do you do when you're not UXing?

Patrick Stafford

You designed and built a mechanical wristwatch? Please say more...

I don't get to play as much as I used to, but I love playing my bass.

I also design and write Zines, as well as do printmaking (carve my own blocks).

I love the look of these 404 zines!

I love art and music. Currently illustrating my second children's book (first was a series of watercolor paintings I incorporated into "Joey the Kangaroo Cat": https://a.co/d/03wNPEq3). I'm also a musician, formerly co-fronted the band Violin Tendencies: https://violintendencies.bandcamp.com and streaming on Spotify, etc. (may resurrect this in a different form soon...) where I contributed violin, vocals, and songwriting/instrumental arrangement. I also dabble in cello, piano, and looping/layering melodies.

Yes! This is actually for my podcast co-hosts. We've been doing it for 12 years, and are almost to our 250th episode. I've been interested in figuring out how to design a watch dial (and what design considerations go into it), so I thought this was a good opportunity — I'll be making these for them (and me) for our 250th!

I guess when I say "designed and built a mechanical wristwatch" I didn't like... assemble the gears or anything. I bought a pre-made watch movement, a case, hands, a crystal, and the watch dial I designed (you can see it in that photo) and assembled them all together!

Yay! The world needs more zines!

Violin Tendencies is such a great name, lol!

This is very cool

These are great! When I'm not UX-ing, I'm usually playing guitar, reading horror novels from #BookTok, or some light creative writing (things like fiction writing prompts). I mainly use that time to chase new hobbies and interests. So who knows, I could have a totally different answer in two weeks!

I coach life and career coaching, folks, when I can. I had a coach and saw the value of it, and this was me after eye-rolling at it. I liked it and wanted to give back, but I also thought that there aren't any coaches who look like me — so how can I change that and make it more accessible to everyone?

Lately, I’ve been writing and experimenting with watercolors . I'm also really into collecting books of any kind, and wandering through museums, often imagining how the experience could be different...

Mary Sherrill

I’ve been daydreaming about writing children’s books for years! Love all of this.
